The late, great Marilyn Monroe once said “We are all of us stars, and we deserve to twinkle” — and this couldn’t ring more true, for me, when I stepped into my “Dare" gown on my wedding day. Always a fan of classic glamour and grace, falling in love with the right gown (oh and man!), had me feeling like a star for the day.
This is me. On my wedding day. Feeling beautiful. And a beautiful day it was...
I’ve dreamed of this day, way back to when I was a little girl from New England. So when my husband asked me to marry him a year and a half ago, I was already full of inspiration for our perfect day. And while growing up, I never imagined that I’d be marrying in Kansas City (let alone a mid-western boy!); I knew I wanted to celebrate the place we met, fell in love, and started our new life together, in the new place, I call home.
Our family and friends across the country joined us on November 9, 2019 — where we married in the center of Kansas City, amid the autumn stars and city scape. Threads of my new city were woven throughout the details of our wedding, along with the 1920’s glamour of the ‘prohibition era’ gone by. But what really brings our wedding day home, was the coming together of all of our family and friends in an intimate ceremony, tailored to us. Our best friend officiated with the most sincere (and humorous) ceremony, and my husband and I shared special vows with each other — written from the heart.
When I look back on my wedding day, I’ll remember all of the fun-loving memories and sweet details — but above all, I’ll never forget how I felt....simply magnificent.
